ST PAUL, Minn. — A boil water advisory has been lifted for areas in Maplewood and St. Paul, nearly a day after it was issued.

The advisory was solely a precautionary procedure following a power outage at the Beebe Road pump station. Lab tests determined that the water has been deemed "safe for consumption," St. Paul Regional Water Services said in a statement Tuesday.

On Monday, officials recommended Maplewood and St. Paul residents boil their water for three minutes before cooking and drinking due to a power loss affecting the distribution system.

St. Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS) said the loss of water pressure at the Maplewood pump station could have caused contamination to enter the distribution system, although the agency said the chances of that were "unlikely."

The following areas are now cleared to resume normal water usage:
