CALABASAS, CA — Enjoy a day of fun games and an especially clean sweet treat this weekend at the Pure Water Project's Demonstration Facility in Calabasas.

The gelato-tasting event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District, 4232 Las Virgenes Rd and will feature carnival games, face painting, a photo booth and tours of the Pure Water Project Facility.

The star of the show, though, is a tasting of gelato made with purified water directly from the Pure Water Project Demonstration Facility, which processes and purifies recycled water usually discharged to Malibu Creek, ultimately making it drinkable.

The Pure Water Project, an initiative of the Las Virgenes-Triunfo Joint Powers Authority, aims to provide a new source of clean drinking — in this case, edible — water to the Las Virgenes and Conejo areas.

Local chain Tifa Chocolate and Gelato will serve the specialty gelato and sorbet at Saturday's event, alongside carnival snacks like popcorn and cotton candy.
