Learn about the Baltimore region’s drinking water system while enjoying Lake Montebello this weekend at Dam Jam 2022, hosted by the city’s public works department.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 3601 Hillen Road, across from Merganthaler “Mervo” High School. It will be hosted by the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW).

“The Baltimore City Department of Public Works is excited to welcome the return of Dam Jam 2022, which was interrupted during the height of the pandemic,” DPW Director Jason Mitchell said in a statement. “This year’s Dam Jam will return bigger and better than ever and filled with opportunities to learn about our regional water system and experience a fun-filled day with activities for the entire family.”

Community members can tour the Montebello Water Filtration Plant to learn about drinking water’s journey to their faucets. Tours will be held at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m., with shuttles leaving hourly from the event site to the water filtration plant.

Dam Jam will also include live music, food trucks, artisans, vendors, family activities, DPW exhibits, and more. Nex Lev’L Jazz Band, Panama Band, and Baltimore comedian Big Fred will provide entertainment throughout the event.

Admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to rest on during the event.
